What HandshakeMD is

HandshakeMD is a directory of licensed clinicians in the United States. It is not a medical provider, a healthcare clearinghouse, a covered entity, or a business associate. It does not provide care, it does not schedule appointments, and it does not transmit patient information.

No referral fees

HandshakeMD pays no referral fee and accepts no referral fee, commission, or per booking payment from any clinician, practice, platform, or payer. Position in search results cannot be purchased at any price. This is a term of use, not only a policy.

Who may list

Listings are for clinicians holding an active license to practice in at least one United States jurisdiction. By creating a listing you confirm that you are that clinician or a person they have authorized to manage the listing, that the information is accurate, and that you will keep it accurate.

Never post patient information

Do not post protected health information, patient names, dates of birth, contact details, or any information that could identify a patient, anywhere on this site. This includes listings, messages, and any board or request feature. Posts containing patient information are removed and the account may be closed.

Confirmation and dormancy

Availability expires after 90 days and a full listing expires after 180 days. When a listing is not confirmed within the window it becomes dormant, hidden from search and removed from the search index. A dormant listing can be restored in one action for up to 12 months, after which it may be deleted.

Unclaimed listings

HandshakeMD builds unclaimed listings from the public National Plan and Provider Enumeration System registry. Unclaimed listings are excluded from search engines and from search results on this site. Any clinician may claim, correct, or permanently remove their listing at any time, for any reason, without giving a reason.

No endorsement, no guarantee

Badges on this site describe specific checks and nothing more, as set out in our verification standards. HandshakeMD makes no representation about any clinician's licensure, credentials, competence, or clinical quality, and makes no guarantee that a clinician has availability at any moment. Verify licensure and credentials directly with the clinician and the relevant state board before making a referral or booking care.

Acceptable use

Do not scrape the site, do not use it to build a competing dataset, do not use listings for unsolicited marketing or recruitment, and do not use the content to train machine learning models without written permission. Do not misrepresent your credentials or list a clinician you are not authorized to represent.

Content you provide

You keep ownership of what you write in your listing. You grant HandshakeMD a non exclusive license to display it, and to include it in search engine indexes and structured data, for as long as your listing is active. Removing your listing ends that license going forward.

Liability

HandshakeMD is provided as is. To the extent permitted by law, HandshakeMD is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from use of the site, including decisions made in reliance on a listing. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict of law rules.
