Privacy.
The short version is that we collect very little and we sell none of it. Last updated 2026.
We do not sell clinician contact information to recruiters, pharmaceutical companies, data brokers, or anyone else. That offer will be made to us and the answer is no.
What we collect from clinicians
What you put in your listing, which is professional information intended to be public. Plus an email address for confirmation prompts, and basic security logs such as IP address and timestamps.
What we collect from people searching
Search terms and page views in aggregate, so we can see which states and specialties have no coverage and go recruit there. No account is required to search, and we do not build advertising profiles.
What we never collect
Patient health information. Nothing on this site is designed to carry it, and our terms prohibit posting it. We are not a HIPAA covered entity or business associate, which is precisely why patient information must never be entered here.
Cookies and analytics
A single privacy focused analytics cookie, with no cross site tracking, no advertising networks, and no third party trackers. Fonts are served from Google Fonts, which receives a request for the font file when a page loads.
Clinicians get confirmation prompts about their own listing, and nothing else unless they ask for it. Anyone who signs up to hear when a clinician opens up in their state gets that one message, not a newsletter. Every email has a working unsubscribe link.
Sharing
We share data with service providers who host the site and send our email, under contracts limiting them to that purpose. We disclose information if legally required. We do not share it with advertisers, and we would not transfer clinician data in a sale of the business without giving clinicians notice and a way to remove their listing first.
Your choices
Correct or delete your listing at any time, for any reason, without explaining why. Ask us what we hold about you and we will tell you. Write to privacy@handshakemd.com and we will act on it.
Retention
Active listings are kept while they are active. Dormant listings are kept for up to 12 months so they can be restored, then deleted. Security logs are kept for 90 days.
Children
This site is for licensed clinicians and adults seeking care information. It is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
